Coupons

Where do you get all those coupons?

I used to wonder the same thing. Well I found out. They are everywhere. You can get hundreds of coupons but, remember, I like to keep it simple. So, here are a few basics to get you started.

Sunday coupon inserts. (Buy at least 2 papers to begin with. I am going to try to make the majority of my post on 2 or 3 coupon inserts per week. You can also ask family & friends for their coupon inserts.

Store booklets & coupon flyers. (Always get at least (2) unless they only allow (1))

Blinkie machines in the stores. (I pull at least 2 each time)

Coupons on the products. (I ONLY pull coupons off of the products I purchase. Pulling coupons off of products still on the shelf is not right!!!!)

Magazines (My favorite is ALL YOU - only sold by subscription or at Wal-Mart)

Printable coupons from websites & coupon sites. See list on the left. (Tip: Wait until you need a coupon before printing UNLESS you know you will use it). Don't try to print all those coupons!!!

Once you become "coupon savvy", you will be more aware of what you may want to print right away and what you could wait on.

If you want, just start with (2) Sunday papers, checking this blog for match ups and printing coupons as needed.

Remember, the goal is not to see who can get the most coupons, the goal is to SHOP SMARTER, NOT HARDER!!!

Citronelle Marketplace

This is for those of you in the Citronelle are (hey, mom). Marketplace prices are not great but if you watch the ads and clip those Sunday coupons you can start stocking up on some things.

Marketplace doubles all coupons up to .50 every day!!! (Make sure the coupon does not exclude doubling - Marketplace does NOT accept internet printable coupons :o( )

Deals & Match Ups - 3/3/10

Fryer Breat .88 lb

Betty Crocker Cake Mix - 5/$5.00

Pillsbury Crescent Rolls - 2/$4.00

$3.20 or 1.60 each

Mahatma Yellow Rice Mix - 3/$2.00 (I would buy (6) and use (3) coupons)
(6) Rice Mixes - $4.00
(3) .75 off (2) S insert coupon - - 1.50
$2.50 for (6) or .41 each

Angel Soft (12 pack) - $6.98
Use .50 S insert -1.00
5.98 each

Pillsbury Toaster Strudels - 2/$5.00
S inserts coupon -.55
$4.45 or 2.23 each

Look for clearance items, coupons on products.

CVS

CVS is at first a little confusing. Let me try to make it simple.

Sign up for their Extra Care card - FREE.

Scan this card at the price check scanner every time you go to CVS and it will print out coupons for you. Semmes store scanner is located at the end of the first cosmetics aisle. Scan this card (2) times per day.

CVS allows you to stack a manufacturer coupon (clipped or printed) with a CVS store coupon.

CVS will have special items that generate a ECB (money) when you make purchases. You can use your coupons on these purchases also.

Here is a shopping scenario:

Scan card at price scanner --- printed out $4 off $20 purchase and (2) $1.00 off Gold Emblem candies coupons.

Store Ad ---- Spend $20 on Gillette brand products and get $5.00 ECB.

(4) Gillette brands @ 5.00 each = $20.00

1st - use the $4 off $20 purchase --- brings it down to $16.00
2nd - use any manufacturer coupons (4) $1.00 0ff - brings it down to $12.00
3rd - Pay the $12.00 and you will receive the $5.00 ECB on your receipt for your next order.

Final cost is $7.00 or $1.75 each.

Now you can do another transaction for another deal. Let's say that coke products are on sale (4) for $13.00 with a $1.00 ECB --- Okay, use the $5.00 ECB received from the first transaction and pay only $8.00 for the cokes --- you will receive another $1.00 ECB for next time.

I think you can have (3) transactions per trip.

The key to CVS shopping is doing more than one transaction so you can use your ECBs to pay for other products. ECB deals are usually limited to (1) per household. Be careful, even if you have several great coupons, the deal would only be for (1).

Our Semmes CVS is really coupon friendly.

If you are in the Citronelle area, you may have to be more careful and watch for your discounts and things.

Rite-Aid

Rite-Aid is one of my favorite stores to shop. Why? Because their reward program is CASH!! That's right, they send a check back for whatever rebates you bought for the month.

Here is how to shop Rite-Aid --- real simple.

Go to their website and sign up for the rebate program and the video values program. All FREE!!

When you get Rite-Aids ad on Sunday ---- check for SCR (rebates) items and BOGO (buy one get one free) items. These are the items that will allow you to get really great deals.

Example:

Blink Tears $7.99 store sale
-7.99 SCR (rebate)

You will have to pay $7.99 at the register.

Starburst Candy BOGO sale
Use a printable interenet BOGO Starburst for (2) free candies.

Charmin Tissue 5.99 store sale
-1.00 Manufacturer coupon from paper
-.50 Video Value coupon from Rite-Aid website

You will pay $4.49 at the register.

However, this item shows a $1.00 rebate for the month. So after you enter all of your receipts for the month on the website (this is real simple to do), Rite-Aid will send you a check!!! Money !!!!!

You will get a check at the end of the month for the $7.99 and the $1.00 rebate. That's $8.99 back for something else you may need.

To me, Rite Aid is the simplest store to shop but you do have to wait for your rebate. But I do like getting that check in the mail.

Don't forget to watch those video commercials!! You can get a $5.00 off purchase coupon each month in addition to the store coupon.

Happy shopping and keep it simple, Ginger

Rite-Aid

Okay, I just found out about an upcoming deal on Starburst Candy at Rite-Aid next week. Become a facebook fan for Starburst and you can print out a BOGO coupon. Rite-Aid will have Starburst candy BOGO next week. You will be able to get (2) bags of Starburst candy FREE. Rite-Aid allows you to pair a BOGO sale with a BOGO coupon.

Hide this candy and use for Easter goodies or enjoy now!

Winn-Dixie

I spoke with a really nice man (Jeff) at Winn-Dixie this morning about the P&G promotion and the problems I had last night. He agreed that I should have been allowed to use my coupons as payment and still get the coupon off my next order. This is his suggestion for the promotion.

Run your $20 or $30 worth of participating P&G products at the register and pay the full amount. This will generate your $7 or $10 coupon for your next order. Then, take your receipt and your coupons to the service desk and they will give you the refund for the coupon credit. Not exactly the most simple way to shop but I am hopeful that following through with these issues will provide the motivation for their corporate office to change their system.

I believe that these issues are a computer programming problem and not a coupon policy problem.

I would love to hear if you have run into any problems using coupons at Winn-Dixie. Leave a comment for this post.
